For those of you who have been following my Dating Diaries blog posts, you know I had a lunch date the other day with Stan. We met at a local sushi place and had a very nice lunch.
Stan is a 28 year old business owner who is also in EMT school. He’s aiming to be a paramedic one day. He’s a good looking guy with a great personality and he has his own apartment in New Jersey. He was nice, funny, outgoing and smart. The conversation between us was good and flowed pretty naturally. I really have no complaints about the date other than that he didn’t seem to want to talk about his family (he said that was a conversation for next time) and he’s a New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. Ahhh! He doesn’t dislike Philadelphia teams and wasn’t trash talking them or anything like that. He seems like a genuine sports nut who simply enjoys watching a good game.
Anyway, he was a gentleman and opened the door for me and picked up the check (you would be surprised how many guys don’t do either). He walked me to my car afterwards and we hugged and agreed to hang out again some time. We’ve continued to text each other since the date and it looks like we’ll be getting together again one day this week.
Is Stan the one for me? I have no idea! But I think he’s worth seeing again and getting to know better.
In the meantime, I’ve been messaging with three guys on Match.com, two of whom gave me their numbers. I’ve only texted with one so far though and the conversation didn’t really go anywhere. The third guy and I have sent some lengthy messages to each other and the conversation has been ok, but neither one of us has offered up our phone numbers yet. I’m also messaging with two guys on Plenty of Fish, but those are still in the early stages of communication at this point.
I know all of you were hoping that my date would be a disaster so I would have a funny story to tell you, but I can assure you that the hilarity of online dating will rear it’s ugly head soon enough. It always does!
Stay tuned for an update on my second date with Stan and if I decide to meet up with any of the other guys, I’ll give them names so that you can all follow along.
