The Dating Diaries- A Final Update

Holding HandsHello! It’s been a while since I’ve checked in and told you all what’s been going on in my world of online dating. The last time I wrote, I was completely frustrated by the fact that Stan had canceled our lunch date at the last minute in favor of paying bills. After letting him know that I was not too happy about his decision, he apologized profusely and we pretty much went back to the way things were before.

The Dating Diaries- The Frustration Begins

cancelAs you know, I was supposed to have a date today with Stan.  We had planned to meet at a local chain restaurant.  Now this was attempt number two at a second date since he had cancelled our Dave & Buster’s date because he didn’t wake up early enough to leave us any time to hang out before he had to go to his night class.  Like last time, he said he would text me in the morning and let me know what time we could meet.  He did just that and we decided to meet at 1:00 p.m.

The Dating Diaries- My Top 10 Online Dating Pet Peeves

Online Dating Pet PeevesHaving been a member of online dating communities over the last five years or so, I’ve come across so many aspects of online dating that I just can’t stand. The Dating Diaries- My Online Dating Profile

Dating Profile

For those of you who have not read my first blog entry in this series, I have entered the world of online dating in the hopes of meeting someone to start a relationship with.  I guess its sort of my New Year’s resolution this year to be more out going and social to try to meet that special someone and I’ve decided to share this journey of ups and downs with the Bensalem Comfort community.

I have created profiles on Plenty of Fish (POF, a free dating site) and  Today I would like to share my profile information with you so that you can learn a little bit more about me and what I’m looking for in a guy.  Please feel free to leave comments about my profile information if you feel there is something wrong with it that may be deterring potential matches from contacting me or responding to my messages.  My screen name on both websites is Nutmeg24 if you would like to check out my actual profile pages or show them to any cute single guys you might know. Ha!

The Dating Diaries

Online Dating

The world of dating has changed drastically over the last decade or so.  Young people today are very  focused on themselves instead of forming relationships with others.  This is not necessarily a bad thing, as we all have to figure out who we are and what makes us happy before we can fully share our lives with someone else.  But this phase of a young person’s life is taking longer to establish these days due to the poor economy with its lack of job opportunities.  This has lead to many young college grads being unemployed and still living with their parents instead of venturing out and beginning an independent lifestyle.  Living this way, it’s almost impossible to imagine bringing another person (let alone possibly starting a family) into your life.  Young people are often so busy with other things that dating ends up on the back burner.  In addition, technology has taken over our lives and dating is no exception to this. With texting, e-mail and instant messaging, face to face contact with another human being in a social setting rarely happens anymore. The culmination of all these factors has lead to an explosion in the number of people who are venturing into the world of online dating.  Sadly, I am one of these people.
